4th of July Rodeo in Choteau, Montana

Once again we were lucky enough to spend a few weeks in the west over the last few weeks. There are two things I look forward to all year long, the first is spending the 4th of July in Choteau, Montana and the second if the NRA Rodeo that takes place in town on the 4th.

Choteau is a small town in north central Montana along the Rocky Mountain Front. It’s an idealic little community that get’s the 4th celebrations right. With an emphasis on family events there is something for everyone over the week of Independence Day.

The rodeo is my favorite event and this year was no exception. This rodeo is a favorite for the cowboys on the circuit and for many people across the country and the globe for that matter. Each year it is attended by people from all over the region, the state and the country. There are even people attending from as far away as New Zealand and many other countries around the world.

It’s an event that seems to be timeless. Cowboys and Cowgirls doing what so many of their predecessors have done for decades. This year is the 68th year for the Choteau American Legion Rodeo but the events seen here have been being carried out well back into the 1800’s across this country.

Coincidently this is also the 100th year anniversary of the town of Choteau.
