On a beautiful fall weekend my sister Beth and some of her friends participated in a three day 60 mile walk to raise money and awareness for the Susan G. Komen Foundation, the world’s largest source of non profit funds dedicated to ending breast cancer forever.
Our family has seen it’s fair share of the destructive power of cancer and my sister dedicated her walk to family members who have both lost and won their battles against this insidious disease.
My Aunt Mary or as we called her Mimi lost a long battle with breast cancer many years ago but her memory and kindness live on within each of us.
My Grandmother Mary and my Aunt Rosemary have both battled breast cancer and won. Their strength and dedication to life has been an inspiration to all who know them.
The family gathered at the Philadelphia Navy Ship Yard to see the last leg of the walk and to cheer Beth and her team on. It was a great day and I am so proud of her for chasing to do this walk and completing it with a strong finish!
